Who are the ships Clan "Skibslaget" ?

DSC_2080.JPGThe Ships Clan are a branch of The Danish Scouts movement and prior to Jensine, were known as being involved with the rebuilding of Viking ships.
Our back ground is the Scout movement, even though the majority of us have outgrown our traditional uniforms.
The ships Clan own Jensine, without any of the society´s members having a private or economical interest in the ship.
The members are recruited from amongst people who are interested in looking after an old sailing ship and who actively make an effort to join in sailing and repairing Jensine.

THE DANISH SHIP PRESERVATION TRUST

By Hans Jeppesen - Chairman for THE DANISH SHIP PRESERVATION TRUST.

The Cutter JENSINE and The Ships Clans in Haderslev are, with good reason, well known by THE DANISH SHIP PRESERVATION TRUST and many other places. The Cutter is a typical example from the last small sailing ships period and JENSINE´s continuing navigation is of a great significance for our present days understanding of the Danish Maritium cultural history.
On fast land thousands of protected buildings tell us about the housing conditions and working circumstances from older times. Our maritime cultural heritage is unfortunately not preserved in the same proportions, even though the ships are both working places and dwellings.
The Ships Clan, responsible for JENSINE, have since 1970 , shown by their example, how the restoring, maintaining and sailing are closely connected when an old craft is to be preserved and The Ships Clan contribution is, in addition, influenced by both commitment and quality.
